This garment is intended to do the heavy-lifting for you by limiting the stress that the growing fetus causes to your muscles, ligaments, and tendons. Of course, you do not want to overuse the maternity belt because the muscles may become inactive and will have to be retrained after pregnancy. Most doctors recommend wearing these belts for the most taxing of activities, but be sure to consult with your FP- OB physician to decide what is best for you.
